Pick a topic, any topic that will get people to watch your show. Then
believe your own publicity and start thinking that you're the guardian of
the people
How many of these can you recognize ?
Kids and schooling
Govt and Welfare
Dole bludgers
Big nasty 4wds
etc etc
It's called television, and when I worked in it some of the presenters and
anchor people wore their makeup on the street......and that was just the
blokes ! :-)
Some Australian journos are useless. Rape, murder and mayhem are ho hum. But
if you have anything that many people can't afford or aspire to, then God
help you ! I mean you can't do stories on gang warfare because you'd upset
ethnic groups.
4wds are fair game. They aren't a racial or ethnic group. But they're only
kidding of course. How else would they get anywhere to file a story away
from a capital city ?
Cheers

Those big nasty trucks, driven by drug f.cked speedsters hell bent on
killing anyone that gets in their way
I remember the Derrin Hinch show one night
started with him stating "Have you ever been monstered by a huge
jugganaught on the highway?, well the NSW Police are fixing them up in a
"stitch Up" operation", mention was made of trucks with mobile phones
and "Banks of CB radios" all there just to avoid the cops
The cops had rented a 5 tonne pan driving up and down the Pacific HWY
trying to catch the murderous truckies
they got one driver who was following another truck less than
60metres(he was speeding up to overtake)
quick closing statement by journo "200 motorists where caught doing the
wrong thing, and one truck driver"
BTW the cameraman was sitting behind the seats in the storage area of
the cab, where there are no seatbelts
All current affairs shows are for the uneducated or the less intelligent
of society

Great, we had a wide selection of drivers there, a dopey female L plater, a
blind old man, and a hoon P plater.
The 3 most hated things on the road. What a great test.

I would have liked to see that instructor try the same test at an
appropriate speed in a normal commodore and see if he hit any of the cones
or as he put it"had a crash its that simple". Nobody really drives a 4WD at
high speed through cones, you slow down at the first one and drive at an
appropriate speed

Unfortunatly it is has nothing to do with the subject. Its about ratings &
what they can charge for a 30 second ad during the show. The media can be
such a whore.
smack - 25 Jun 2004 16:47 GMT
finally, sense
it is about the price of the 30 second slot.
when you can charge $1500/second for the top rater scruples are out the window

Remember way way back...well maybe in the mid 80's. They put a stock GPZ 900
(A4 or 5 i think) against a touring car in a drag race. The bike hosed it
(no idea what diff the car had) & there was an uproar about getting this new
breed of superbike off the streets. Im waiting for them to line a busa up
next .

Yep. A BMW 635 CSI, before they were allowed to use the Twin cam 4
valve head, which meant that whilst the Bimmer wound out fairly well
and the handling and brakes were first class, Celicas and Capris out
accelerated it.
Or to put it another way, It was a mismatch, one of the (then) fastest
road registerable bikes against one of the slower accelerating Touring
Cars.
Needless to say the Bimmer got flogged.
It was a pathetic piece of journalism a "test" that proved nothing
whatsoever.
But, I think it was 60 commercials and not 2day2night who did it though.

yup it was 58 minutes of ads 2 mins of clock.

I stopped watching that crap the night richard carlton walked up to a dili
voting booth & asked a villager how he was going to vote whilst several
armed malitia stood just behind him no doubt getting ready to kill his
family if he said anything against the indonesians. The dork wouldnt take no
for an answer & kept pushing the point.
Yeh i know...i should have woken up way before that but it was without doubt
the worst bit of journalism (if you could call it that) that i have ever
seen.
