My Prado has only done 29000km and the Dunlop AT20's are worn to the tread
wear indicator. I am considering getting Bridgestone Dueler AT694's or Micky
Thompson Baja MTX. Has anyone had any experiences with either of these
tyres? Is there another choice to consider for tyres and what size should I
consider( It should be legal).

Regards
Doug

What sort of driving. I have a Prado and do a reasonable amount of
4WDriving, I have Cooper STs, they have been great, excellent wear, tough
and good grip. Will buy them again next time. I had the Bridgestone Dueler
AT694's and was not impressed with there off road worthiness. The Coopers
are slightly noticeably noisier on bitumen.  Wombatwal

Bridgestones wear quick.
Mickys are a bit of a noidea, theres people asking everywhere what
they are like, but nobody is using them.

Go with Coopers ST or Goodyr MTRs.

15mm over stock is as much as you can go to be legal

Great tyre, but you only get 25 maybe 30,000 out of a set.
In comparison, I'll get 20,000 out of my boggers easily.

Gee, there must be something wrong with my desert duellers.....done 44K
and still 40% tread left.

Should I ask for a refund?

Might be the car's weight, and speed of driving. I got some on the vitara
when I bought it, they lasted 126,000 kms. Vitara is very light, and I don't
tend to go at mach 1 (or mach anything).

f.ck I must be on rims then, 58,000 and about 75% to go.

38,000 not 58,000

Tyres have got to be the number 1 4wd discussion. I've seen identical
vehicles have very different results from the same tyres. I'd guess that
fleet managers find the same.
What works for 1 doesn't always seem to work for another. I was told BFG are
the only ones to have, then it was Coopers, now it's something else.
In the Simpson a 40 series driver wanted to swap his BFG's for my road
retreads !
Guess it depends on load, technique, terrain and just plain luck.
As most of my driving is unfortunately on road at the moment I'll stick with
my Kelly's. Got em for a great price and they've gone the distance on and
off road.

Cheers

Interesting! I have done about 30,000 dirt and off road and 20,000 town
miles on a set of Goodrich AT's.
If you do much bad/off roading, don't get anything which has not got at
least 3 ply sidewalls. If you stick to reasonable roads, don't spend so
much. Coopers have a great rep, but are noisy and rather harsh on road. Same
for Goodrich AT's, but a little less. For best wear consider running your
rubbers at about 10% above recommended pressure but never, never
underpressure if you want mileage.
