The world-class sedan redefines global standards for comfort, performance and design."
Easy, take a leaf out of US Toyota:
"MSRP of $18,270, ******a decrease of $175 or 0.9 percent"***** [AUS$24,360] more features/power etc less coin.
Kick her off here for say AUS$25k [$10,000 less than a 380] and the jobs done.
New Avalon [still like that old name] and new Comm. VE will hammer in the final coffin nails.

Throw in AWD as well to blow them all out of the water.

Mitsubishi stops manufacturing in Aus Parts manufacturers in Aus go bust or jack up prices Toyota move manufacture to Asia Due to lack of local competition and rising cost of manufacture in Aus, Holden move Commodore manufacture to Korea/China Ford close Falcon line and import global large car...
Even thought the 380 is wrong (for lots of reasons), it's demise can only be bad for the whole of the car industry in Australia, not good. Holden, Toyota and Ford (mostly Holden and Ford Aus) know this all too well. Local competition is a good thing.

Given the few sales available, you'd at least think the bloody shite would be put together with, well, a little more care and a tad more attention to detail by the enguneers designing it.

If Nissan Aus brought in the RWD Skyline Sedan (and maybe coupe) at a *reasonable price*, it would sell well and show show Mistubishi and Toyota what Australians really want.
380 and Aurion? Do Australians (in the market for a large car) really want to buy big front wheel drive cars over Falcon/Commodore. Not anyone I know.

Any manufacturer can import cars, we were talking about local manufacturing and Nissan failed. If Nissan thought they could sell imported Skylines in good numbers at a decent profit then they would already be available.
> 380 and Aurion? Do Australians (in the market for a large car) really > want to buy big front wheel drive cars over Falcon/Commodore. Not > anyone I know. Time will tell, if the sales of large RWD cars keep declining then the choice may be taken away and we will only be able to buy imports and there won't be too many large RWD's amongst them. It will also depend on the cars that are offered as competition to Falcodores, if someone makes a car that for some reason everyone wants then which wheels are driven won't be so important.

You know 380 is dead as a dodo and that the Aurion will always have better sales than the 380.

Yep, even at 29,990, no one buys then! But then if a 12 month old magna can be had for WELL under 20 grand, who for Christs sake, would be stupid enough to buy one?
That is a lot of money down the drain!

Geez Ron, that's a long bow to draw for someone who likes Jags. You could just about buy a 380 with the depreciation on an S Type from new price to driving it straight around to 2nd hand cars at the same dealer, let alone waiting 12 months. And XJ's are even worse!

The two old ones I have, increase in value each year, according to the insurance policy :-)

Noddy - 02 Mar 2006 00:46 GMT > Really? It looks heaps bigger in the flesh. I was picking my wife up from Southbank on Tuesday afternoon, and there was a 380 and a last model "f.ck ugly" parked side by side about 30 feet from where I was waiting for her. I got out to stretch my legs and went over for a squiz, and about the only area that I could see where the 380 is bigger is that it's slightly taller in the rear half due to it's somewhat "wedge" shape".
It's shorter overall, and around the same width (well, as good as I could tell just by looking at them). It looks bigger, but I think that's a bit of an optical illusion due to it's shape.
Oh, and it has a f.ck ugly rear and a shitty interior :)

Local competition is a good thing. I agree that having a fouth car manufacturer in Australia is a good thing but Mitsubishi's volumes are so low even now that if they do go under I doubt it will have much affect on the others. If anything Toyota, Holden and Ford will pick extra sales so the market for locally made cars will be much the same as it is now. IMO if it wasn't for the fact the Falcodores are still the volume sellers here and Aussies don't generally like GM or Ford's OS products they would have shut up shop here long ago, if they close local manufacturing they would be giving a huge slice of the market to Toyota who are slowly taking it anyway.
