NOt really, I was sent threatening mail (threats of violence to me) by
one vendor, because I made a forum post clearing up the fact that
something they were advertising as having developed themselves was
merely a repackaged ford cleveland item (that happens to be a perfect
fit) sold for twice what they retail for at a big importer/supplier. the
funny thing is their first contact mentioned how they had the pieces
made themselves. This of course is hilarious because a friend of mine at
the time worked for the company that sent them the bits! so it wasn't a
hunch.
After a couple of further emails, i cracked it and posted another reply
(the first one and all subsequent ones I posted on the forum I made the
post about hte parts,. but concealed the identity of the vendor) and
outright dared the guy making the threats to come to Melbourne and get
in the ring with me. I never heard from him again. sadly.
anyway in consideration of who runs the forum (it's not their gripe, and
they are in fact one of the 'good guys' and successfully sueing someone
isn't necessarily able to be defended by the fact that the comments are
in fact true, go figure) I've never ever identified who it was that sent
it, but anyone who spent more than a couple of months in the mopar
community, or was unlucky enough to do business with them would know
exactly who I mean.
My general tip for anyone buying parts and the like is that if you can't
meet with the vendor at a workshop/place of business, how the f.ck could
anyone hope to clear up a warranty issue, if they have no idea where the
person is. Now this doesn't necessarily mean that anyone doing mail
order is dodgy, not at all, but it's worth consideration, and it would
behoove the person to find others who had dealt with a business, and can
tell you what their experience was like.
there's one or two guys on ebay who sell mopar stuff, and one of them,
if you look closely enough has similar spelling mistakes in their ads,
as are made in some of the supposed customer feedback - coicidence? who
knows? If not, it's worth weighing up.
The best I can do is to only recommend those who _really_ shine and
stand out, and I tend to have done that in the past (believe me it's a
short list, even when one considers all automotive stuff, not just
mopars)
