In todays Daily Torygraph, the Cars section contains a story about the
Bushmaster being built by ADI for the Australian Army. Apparently the
seppo's were impressed enough to arrange for a facility in Oshkosh - gotta
love the name - to be set up to build them for their military.
But the kicker is, some of these vehicles are already in use in Iraq and
Afghanistan. They have caught the eyes of Arab Sheiks and US football
players who want to know if they can be purchased for private use, a mere
$600,000. Now it's the last one that sets me smiling. A Bushmaster
pimpmobile. Paint it bright yellow, add - I dunno. 30"? - rims, Krell amps
with Velodyne 1812 sub-woofer, low-rider suspension. Am I missing
anything?... Anybody willing to guess at a description of the driver???
:-)

Ta Ron, I was more sorta referring to a URL for the article, but what the
hey. Did you check out the 12mb vid of the beast in action? And if you take
a link to the ballistics and armour plate bit, there's a jpg of one going
over a landmine.

When I left the army, it was M-113's or Inter Mk 5 or 7's we hauled the
crunchies around in. But that was a long time ago..... Wouldnt mind having a
drive of a Bushmaster though.

How about that :-)
I was a "crunchie" 69/70 same place.
I left it in 1998, bushrangers were around on trials.
Ugly bastards but good at what thet did.
I'm not sure why they built them when the Tankies are tearing around in
Canadian ASLAV's which are very similar.
Videos here of all things in action :-)

I cannot answer that question on the grounds of political correctness.....

These would be great for the morning school run - except you would need to
get a big bullbar for it.
