John Hughes (biggest Mitsi dealer is Aus) had an ad in today's Sunday Times.
There was a pic of a huge lot of Magnas.  Apparently he has purchased more
than 400 2003 models direct from Mitsubishi.
He is flogging them off at $16,999 less $3,000 minimum trade in.
I guess these are ex fleet?

That's really gonna knock the guts out of the local used Magna market (such
as it is.)

I noticed the dealer on Sangate Road, Nundah on Saturday has a yard full of
the older uglier ones plus the new 380 magna's.
The signs were saying "BRAND NEW"???

How could you stay in business with a yard full of up to two year old cars
that have never been on the road, FFS!

The used market for any brand is sh.t because new cars are so cheep.
Think about it. Why buy a second hand car when you can ger a new barina
for the same price.

Tom Phillips (ex MMAL CEO) knew what was going  happen to MMAL and thats why
he bailed out.

I guess the writing is on the wall for Mitsubishi Australia...
That was the original "Button Plan" wasn't it?  Reduce the number of local
manufacturers to three.
Although I think it called for six models to be built locally, so I guess
they overshot that one.  Still, the plan would be 20 years out of date by
now.

BTW, how many models does Toyota build locally?

I don't think so.
Mitsubishi failed by producing CRAP!

Once the general public see that, they will turn away as they did with
Chrysler (previous owner) and Leyland.

I saw one on display today for $14,990 +orcs.  I can't believe that they
could be that cheap brand new but why else would the be "+orcs".  (Ex
Federal Govt fleet perhaps?)

No it's just a ploy so they can display in very large figures a lower
price than if they included the ORC, probably a wholesale job that's not
even rego-ed yet, direct from the auction

gotta love the "Min $3000 trade in" deals these dealers still use
Never had to deal with one, how does it work, You trade a mid 90's Magna
worth $500 and you get the same trade price as a $2500 90's Camry

of course it would all be just a paperwork trick to make the deal look
good for both the suck... er... buyer and the finance Co.

I've been there years ago "Yeah we'll add $2000 to your trade in and
make the price of the car $2000 more"

Exactly, I test drove a car from a yard that had $3k minimum trade and the
guy said that he would just know the $3k off if I didnt trade anything in.
Go figure eh?
