Hi all,

Both keys for my 2001 Astra discharge new batteries within a few days.

Replacements are apparently $170!

Don't talk to me about the keys for the 2001 Astra.....

That used to happen to me also. I think it's related to the module
inside - one of my keys is now completely dead, and the other (with a
loose module which I only half-successfully attempt to keep in place
with plastic padding) only works sometimes, as well as setting off
shop alarms, 'tho the battery seems to last okay....

Funny how both the transponders on my wife's 1996 Magna are still working.

Shame about that smoky, rattly engine though.

I am special. I have the brains not to be driving a Holden product!

I've repaired them before where the battery holder comes loose and moves
around and needs resoldering or the microswitch(es) needs replacing. A clean
with contact cleaner of the circuit board can help if it is grimy too. These
aren't an official fix, but some I have done for the used car department ;-)

Also, make sure nothing is pressing the buttons on the remote whilst it's in
your pocket ie keyring.

Could be, that's not the price I would pay ;-)
