Crash Lander - 30 Mar 2006 00:06 GMT
Recently, when looking for a replacement car for the drowned Fairmont, I
found an EF Falcon advertised. Investigations found the car had been used in
a TV commercial, and was 1 of 2 used in the ad. The woman would not tell me
what ad the car was in, but told me I would know it when I saw it. The car
also had NSW plates on it. I asked her what work was required to get a
Victorian roadworthy certificate on it, and she informed me that the car,
among other things, had leaky front struts, and they would need to be
replaced before it could be registered in Victoria.
2 weeks later, I saw the ad in question. It's the new Vic Roads wipe off 5
ad where the car screeches to a halt and hits a woman.
What's the ironic bit? If the car didn't have leaky front struts, it
probably would have pulled up in time! Good on you Vic Roads for using an
unroadworthy vehicle in a road safety commercial!

I'm not always right,
But I'm never wrong!

It's actually an EL Futura.

Another funny thing is that the car really slumped down at the front.

The cluster used to show "lets change one small thing here" was from an AU
Falcon where the slows from 65 to 60.

5km makes "NO" difference in real life figures where you have such a
variation in vehicles, brakes etc. It's bullshit propaganda at its best.

Perhaps they did so many takes that by the end of filming the struts had
started to leak. Wouldn't be surprised.

I once drank from a beer glass with a crack in it that was apparently used
in the drink driving campaign, good one RTA for showing drinking with a
dodgey glass.

It's RW you're talking to. You can't get a straight, logical
conversation out of him if you paid him. He'll just come back with
something like, "Oh, so kids shouldn't be allowed to have inflatable
inner tubes for their bikes!"

I think he has a macro set up that automatically prints that one.
