Actually I was given a length of this stuff when they were cleaning out the
mechanical w/shop, plus a square of headgasket or exhaust manifold stock.
Only meant for mowers and small single cylinder engines tho.

Lucky you don't live in a hot climate -- mine rarely lasts five
years... and the Klinger stuff isn't nearly as good as the old
Oakenstrong. :)
Poor hot water on it in an emergency -- expands and softens it. The
Weeties packet also makes a reasonable subsitute.

Yeah, I was tempted, but said daughter is liable to take off to Sydney in it
before I do a proper repair, so reinforced neoprene sheet it was. Its a bit
thick, about 1/8", but it worked.

I've seen cereal box cardboard with a liberal dose of gasket glue last
over 8 years (sold the car after 8 years)

Good idea plasticising it with Silastic.

I don't take sides.
It's more fun to insult everyone.

That did cross my mind, but I didnt think new gasket paper used mousture as
a softening agent, and the fact it was going to be used as a coolant
gasket,..but thanx for the idea.
