Victorian (Australia) White-on-Black 'SAAB-90' Number Plate for Sale

Hi everyone,

I've had this number plate for some time in my collection of miscellaneous Saab
trivia, but I'd like to sell it to someone who can either actually use it
(maybe you are the owner of the other plate to go with it?) or you have a
well-established Saab paraphenalia collection which could benefit from it's
addition.

Anyway, the plate is a from the Australian state of Victoria and it displays
'SAAB-90' in crisp white letters on a gloss black background. The plate is in
superlative condition and until the other day when I put it temporarily onto
the front of my 1983 8V turbo for this picture:

and the close-up shot at:

http://www.classicsaab.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1811

it had never been on a car in the 3 years I've had it.

I only ever got the one single plate - if there is a matching one it's probably
in someone else's collection. If you are interested in the plate, I'd like
A$250 minimum for it so please send me your offers! I will list it on Ebay this
weekend unless it's sold beforehand. I'll take it with me to the SCCA NSW
branch meeting on Tuesday May 9th at Heartland Saab to show around.

The plate is extremely rare! I am happy to ship it to anywhere in the world if
you are from outside of Australia and would like to express an interest in
purchasing the plate.

You can also see information about the plate and the pictures at:

Thanks,

Craig.

Like any other number plate.

Good luck with the sale.

In NSW, they're the property of the RTA and it's an offence not to
hand em in once rego is expired.

The plate itself is worth next to nothing.

What is valuable to people is the 'rights' to the plate, so they can use
it on a vehicle.  In Victoria, when you purchase a personalized plate,
you buy the rights to that combination of letters and numbers.  You can
sell the rights to another person if you wish, who can then put those
plates on a car.

If you have the rights, you can get a new set of 'plates' made for very
little.  The plates themselves have little actual value.

I believe that in some states (SA?) there are places that can make up
novelty plates for you for very little money.  (~$20)  If all you have
is a plate, and no rights to use it, it is just a bit of stamped painted
metal that may (or may not) have once been on a car.

My plate is just as rare, not another one like it in Australia.

I reckon that the one on my motorcycle is twice as rare as
that SAAB90 plate.
