Just found out about this. Very cool.

24th May 2006
Timetable2SMS Beta Launch

A new SMS service has been setup by www.sms-store.com/trains.asp for
receiving train timetables to your mobile phone for Perth Australia.

Send a SMS to : +447854920781
with the message: SMSTP Perth Fremantle (or you can type SMSTP Per Fre
for short if you like).

You will be sent an SMS with the next 5 train times back to your mobile
phone. There is presently no charge for receiving messages from this
service as it is in the development stage. The only timetable available
at the moment is Perth to Fremantle however the service will expand if
there is a large interest.

This development service is open until the end of June 2006 only.

This will only apply to this group if we wish to run the crossings at high
speed and know that a train just aint due yet!

I'd be more tempted to ensure there is no other fremantle is Scotland.

The domain is .com (which is typical of .uk based businesses) and the
phone number is a UK based mobile phone.

Why?  The original post (and as you've quoted it) reads, "A new SMS service
has been setup by www.sms-store.com/trains.asp for receiving train
timetables to your mobile phone for Perth Australia.".

What part of Perth *Australia* didn't you comprehend?

> The domain is .com (which is typical of .uk based businesses)

Wrong!  UK businesses typically use .co

> and the phone number is a UK based mobile phone.

Well, one observation correct out of three isn't too bad, I guess.

Wrong: it would be .co.uk but for some stupid reason they all tend to
se .com, as any walk through London will tell you if you have ever
visited anyttime in the last 6 years or so.

Well, duh, of course!  We were discussing the "com" part.

Bullshit!  The majority don't.  A few do, as do a few in Australia
www.bigpond.com and www.colesmyer.com being a couple of examples.

Continue digging that hole

Noticed you conveniently ignored my question "What part of Perth *Australia*
didn't you comprehend?"

Is that Perth, WA, Australia, or Perth, TAS, Australia.

:)

Wouldn't it be easier to just get a FREE train timetable when you are at the
train station ?????

Probably most of the people who would use this service would be brain dead
wombats that can't read a timetable or comprehend a written sentence.

And just why is the service based in England?  (+44 or 0011 44) is the
Country code for England.  Couldn't it be done in Australia?  Come on,
Telstra, where are you on this?!

Telstra wouldn't know where Fremantle was.

If you are already at the train station, can it send u an SMS to warn when a
group of coons is about to bash the crap out of you and steal your stuff?

Just look for a sign that says Midland or Armadale.

You obviously live here, you're dead right! Forest Place across from
Perth station, and that dingy park across from Fremantle station ain't
much better, but the Armadale and Midland trainlines as a whole late at
night are pretty much Aborigine terrorist zones, without fail.

Yep.  I drive everywhere.   Public transport sucks and Perth doesn't know
what a traffic jam is.  People think an extra 20 minutes on the freeway at
peak hour is the end of the world.

During the week I'm the same, but weekends is public transport time. The
police don't seem to like it when I drive with beer in me, and taxis can
get damn expensive when you live in outer whoop-whoop, so consequently
it's the weekends when I see all the fun terrorism going on.
