yeah, I have to say, I think power steering on a car like that is overkill.
When I sold my Daihatsu Charade, people invariably asked if it had power
steering. Why?!
My first daily driver was a XC ute, and it had no power steering, and it
needed it for carparks.

Yeah - getting from one to another to another - looking for a
semi-trailer sized space.

It fitted into small oblong spots. Luckily the doors were really long
because sometimes, I had to climb out through the window! It also took 5 of
us, if we needed an urgent Hamburger Run to Manuka during recess.

Some small FWD cars have very heavy steering, some Ford Lasers are pigs
to drive without PS.
The 40 series Landcruiser I owned didn't have PS and it wasn't too bad
on good roads but as soon as 4WD was engaged the steering became
extremely heavy.

My JX came with it standard.
But maybe they added that for later models.

Yeah, but, some asked this AFTER they'd test driven it! The steering in the
Charade was quite nice, it didn't need power steering at all.

I suspect this is why Vitey has power steering. Even with it, at low speed,
in 4WD, the front gets heavy, mainly when parking or trying to manouvre into
a tight spot slowly.

I have a Hilux 4WD, no power steering and tghe dickhead previous owner
fitted a small sports steering wheel to it
add some worn out 10inch tyres
now try turning that on the ashphalt car park

In answer to the actual quesion you asked, yes, they do come with power
steering.
You find it on the JLX model, which also comes with power windows and
mirrors and door trims that cover the whole door, not just the top 80%.
They also have a thicker steering wheel and nicer seats.
It is a common conversion (and easy to do if you're handy with a 12mm
spanner). You will find the parts easily at any Suzuki wrecker for about
$400.

Adam
