It seems that if ones signs their life away to a morgage an extra $350 is not going to matter. It will just take them to 65 years old insead of 60 years old.

I think that if you are too stupid to rock up and ask for your desired plate, they should press a button to ask the 'puter to generate one for you, and charge you a *huge* premium for their, and the 'puters time.
Everyone should be able, and should choose their own plates FFS!

There was a cop hanging around on our country road the other day, and he turned around behind me and I wondered if he was going to hassle me about having the wrong rego (but I think he was just monstering the speeders).

Sadly, as I mentioned, the days of free personal plates is over (except for those of us that got in early :-) ), so for NSW at least, that in white bordered will be $30 plus annual $430 reaming.

ANNUAL?!!!!! The buggers. I'm not paying that for a number plate. Plus all the nonsense to transfer the rego and other stuff. Would have been nice though. I wish I had thought of it years ago.

Yep too much money, bit like the special interest registration,we have it in Tassie, Can register a car or truck however only drive for 50 odd days a year and only drive for the fun of it,all subject to approval by a commisioner ofcourse. Which means if you have an old truck and want to drive it somtimes to carry another old truck, you are going to be battling to get accepted for Special Interest. No personal gain is the rule . Dumb and a waste of money and fuel if you ask me,for yuppie types....shows what our population is supposed to be brainwashed into being.......Happy little yuppies!
Been there at the personal plates scene...too much money or finance,or in odd cases a sign of a fully accomplished person.....will never see a fully accomplished well off person driving a holden of any kind however.....ROFL.

The best/worst? was SEXYFX on a Hyundai (s?) Coupe FX. The car was purple, and so was the numberplate.

The driver? A woman in her 60's or 70's. I guess the N stood for Nanna :-)

Noddy - 29 Jul 2006 05:20 GMT > Those spinning wheel things are so ridiculous, they just do not look good. > They look silly. Yep, absolutely f.cking hideous.
Saw a yellow Monaro a few days ago a little ways in front of me with a P plate on, and the driver appeared to be wearing the customary "tea cosy" on his head that seems to be norm with new male drivers these days. As it was moving the wheels looked odd, but when we stopped at a light next to each other I saw it had those f.cking ridiculous spinning hubcaps, and I pissed myself laughing.
This kid looked over at me with a grin as wide as a cut throat, and all I could think was "Mate, if only you realised what an absolute f.cking brainless twat you look like"......

I happened to see my first set of these coming home Friday night. They were GIANT because they were on some 22" (guessing) rimmed w.nk of a "4WD".
I agree. They look absolutely stupid, and I can't fathom how anyone would think it looks good or "cool". What, am I supposed to be confused into thinking "Is that car moving or stationary? Man the owner of that car is f.cking with my head, oh he's SO got one up on me there, what a guy!"

If I ordered (and got) the same plates today, I believe I would cop a yearly ream out from RTACo/GovCo

Must be about ten years ago that they wanted to charge me $1,500 to keep a number that had been in the family for decades (an original four figure numeric plate). How long they mighta let me keep it is something else again.
It's like sex... having to pay for it just wouldn't be the same.

> It's like sex... having to pay for it just wouldn't be the same. LOL!
I'd certainly get the shites if I had to pay a yearly fee for me personal plates. Looking at the RTA site, some of those fees are quite frankly, a huge rip orf ...
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/numberplates/pricelist.html
The "metallic" personalised plus plates would need to contain their own cell 'phone with free calls, and a cable TV set + subscription, for that yearly fee?!?!

In that "ouch" picture I posted in the "Gay Cars" thread, you can see the front plate has tears at the top from countless occurences of the plate being torn from the bolts. The front plate used to be the back plate. Had to swap before there was nowhere left to put a bolt through
