Just finally got round 'tuit to get 'lux regoed. While
getting a pink slip (which is passed with flying
colours - which it should have done, given the
work I put into the front axle thing last week, just
one small item I missed they fixed on the spot
was front pax parking light globe was out), I
saw something I didn't quite believe ....
2000 model Rodeo ahead of me getting same.
For some reason before I got there I guess
the guy doing the test drive suspected something
weird with it, as he checked the oil. There wasn't
really any there. I held back the bwhahaaaaaaaa
overhearing the frustrated looking mechic telling
him (and rodeo driver wasn't a her - it was a him
which made matters even sadder), that *yes* you
do need to change your oil from time to time.

Fair enough some people have NFI about cars, but they should at least
know to hand their cars in for a service by people with FI about cars
every now and then :-O

That's part of what the mechanic was telling him. Maybe
folk need a quick quiz at the RTA when xfer rego on a
new or different car about how often the vehicle in Q
needs serviced. Someone going from a 15,000 service
interval to a 5,000 interval vehicle for example without
understanding, or reading manuel, I can see won't be
a good look.

Even easier than that.
They should just read their owners manual which tells them when and how
to check and top up the fluid levels, its a very simple process that can
save them big dollars but too many people are just too lazy.
I hope the lazy idiot destroys his engine and some mechanic makes a
fortune repairing it:-)

It's the current thing. Cars are whitegoods. You don't service whitegoods,
you just turn them on and off and clean them sometimes. Cars as bland
loungerooms with soundproofing and plush interiors and air con and automatic
transmission. Good drivers define themselves by being able to press their
accelorator more than the person they're tailgating (on straights).
