FIAT's have always been frugal on fuel, [130 V6 Excl.], its what the
Prius gets without the mid $30's pricetag.
Its to expensive for mine, you would be better of with a similar sized
vehicle, say a Tiida for $18k and a whole heap of money left over for
the fuel
FIAT are working on a very tiny engine with a turbo and some other
weird engine technology that i cannot understand, will have the best
economy/performance ratio ever reached in a smallish vehicle

Its European, a complete dimension from what Korea builds, but you pay
for it, granted it is loaded with kit and a 5 star safe vehicle, but by
the time u drive away its $25k
Cheaper FIAT Panda model on the way here, early next year

Thats not much cheaper than the base model Impreza ($23990 +orc) which
is also well equipped.
I know which one I'd choose out of those 2, as you say the Fiat is
overpriced by at least $5000.00
