In that case thats the end of the 380, and Mitsubishi @ Tonsley Park [well manufacture anyway]
Really its old news, how can they survive with 1600 employees building 50 cars a day, do the math its not possible

Noddy - 25 Oct 2006 11:01 GMT > http://www.news.com.au/business/story/0,23636,20642433-31037,00.html Right.
So, an "external agency" just conducted an impromptu study on MMAL pulling out of Australia because they felt like it, and submitted it to MMAL because they had nothing better to do?
MMAL didn't ask for it at all? :)
McEniry has contradicted himself about half a dozen times now in the press, and anything that comes out of his mouth should be taken with a grain of salt the size of Tasmania. No doubt he'll do the expected CEO thing and deny there's any problem right up until he announces that everyone is sacked and the plant is closed.

Or with IOUs.
> > Anyone thinks that Tom didn't know what was going to happen in the end is > > a daft c.nt. :-) > > Which is precisely why he bailed out. Let's wait to hear the 'real' story from Oz, I'm sure he'll 'know'. Which will just make it all the more humourous when they shut up shop. It'll actually be interesting to see - because if they do close up, then anyone dumb enough to own one, if they are unlucky to be in a prang, would find no panels available, so the car would be a write off. I'm then inclined to think that the week after they announce closure, 80% of all 380s purchased (yep 12 in total) will be involved in freak accidents.
I'm sure that 2 years after the closure Oz will be insisting they are still in production, and have record sales that month.

People would be up for the shell as is, let alone when the prouject is finished (and I'm sure you'll have shitloads of pics of it before paint went on it, which would probably have any old car fan salivating, given the condition of it.
I sold my unfinished torana not all that long ago, for nearly 4 times what it cost me, and it wasn't all that close to finished either (I did throw in a few things, which made it a fair enough deal, but I explained to the guy, who kept bugging me to sell it to him, I was selling it at that price because it's unlikely another would come along in that condition.

Yeah, the older stuff has gone through the roof in the last few years.
I keep an eye on the early falcon coupe scene just as a matter of interest, and it seems that 10 grand gets you f.ck nothing as a rebuilder these days. It was only 3 and a bit years ago I bought mine for 4 grand, and even though it didn't have an engine it was engineered (in NSW) for a V8, had a reasonable body, was otherwise complete and had a nine inch in it to boot.
A few days ago a bloke I know asked if I wanted a bare shell for 5 grand (no doors or hang off panels), and I said thanks but no thanks. -- Regards, Noddy.

Oh, incidentally Oz, it's a forgone conclusion, not speculation. The only people claiming that they won't close is MMAL (which is to be expected). Every other analyst out there suggests the opposite, and it's only a matter of "when".

>> Dan...Is Mitsu still building the 380? >> Seems to me they are....I'll let you know when they stop..OK!? > > Any day now will be sufficient Oz :) MMAL's CEO gets a bit fiesty with the ABC.
Angered by another report of Mitsubishi's impending closure, chief executive Rob McEniry has accused the ABC of attacking the integrity of the company.
Angered by another report of Mitsubishi's impending closure, chief executive Rob McEniry has accused the ABC of attacking the integrity of the company and its management team.
Mr McEniry used his speech to the Sydney Motor Show to again deny Mitsubishi planned to close down its vehicle manufacturing facilities in Adelaide.
But he said he was most angered at the latest report, aired on the ABC on Tuesday night, because it cast doubt on the integrity of his company and of his management team.
"I will not accept such innuendo and I will vigorously defend the management's integrity and credibility, individually and collectively," he said.
Mr McEniry said he also rejected the ABC's suggestions that the company would seek to mislead employees, suppliers, unions and government by announcing a closure just before it took effect.
"Nothing could be further from the truth," he said.
"We have a strong, clearly stated, relationship with each of these groups based on a history of open and transparent communication.
"That is our modus operandi with all our stakeholders."
Mr McEniry's strong stand followed a 7.30 Report story which said the ABC had obtained a leaked document called Project Phoenix which detailed plans to close Mitsubishi's manufacturing facilities.
The ABC said Project Phoenix set out three possible dates for closure of Mitsubishi's Tonsley Park plant: February or October 2007 or March 2008.
It also said an announcement would be made just four months before the closure date, and the company would create the illusion of business as usual by continuing to place small orders for stock until one month before closure was announced.
Mr McEniry said the draft document had been prepared by an external agency and had been rejected by Mitsubishi Australia management.
"Let me be clear, there is no plan, there is no decision to cease manufacturing at the Tonsley Park plant, period," he told the Sydney Motor Show guests."
Also at the Sydney show Mitsubishi revealed a concept car based on its locally-made 380 sedan which featured a supercharged engine.
It also showcased some of it recent releases and gave details of models in the pipeline in what Mr McEniry said would give the company an exceptional range of vehicles.
"Mitsubishi, in fact, is currently launching nine new models over 15 months," he said.
"We continue to invest in new product and have great consumer appeal."

Mitsubishi's red-hot 380 Bruce Newton, drive.com.au, 26/10/06
A supercharged 380 TMR adds punch to Mitsubishi's large car lineup writes BRUCE NEWTON.
Mitsubishi 380 TMR
Mitsubishi is determined to convert the TMR 380 motor show concept revealed in Sydney this morning into a production vehicle.
The fiery red 380 features a supercharged version of the 3.8-litre V6 engine developed by West Australian-based specialiast Sprintex. Power increases by 31 per cent to 230kW and torque by 29 per cent to 442Nm.
Mitsubishi boss Rob McEniry revealed potential customers had already tried to place orders for the TMR 380 after sightings on the internet.
"We have been a little embarrassed by that, so we are going to have to move this along pretty quickly," he said. "It's just a matter of working through the homologation."
McEniry suggested that some components may come to market as accessories, while a two tier model range could also be considered. A version with the concept's aggressive bodywork could be on-sale this year, while a higher-spec version that adds the performance parts could appear in the first half of 2007.
Pricing for a full-house production TMR 380 is far from sorted, but the most obvious established rival is Ford's Falcon XR6 Turbo. It retails for $46,405. The most expensive 380 is currently the $44,990 GT.
The TMR 380 was one of two supercharged concept cars shown by a local manufacture at Darling Harbour today. Toyota also presented its Aurion Sports Car Concept, which will produce 240kW when it goes into limited production mid-2007.
The Mitsubishi takes its name from Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, which runs the company's Australian Rally Championship campaign and also performs road vehicle modifications.
TMR put the show car together at its Melbourne base, based on Mitsubishi's design brief of improving the performance and appeal of the 380 while delivering the flavour of the iconic Lancer Evo series.
It also presented a hotted up version of the Lancer Evo IX named the TMR 220. Aimed at sprint and hill climb enthusiasts, the 220 goes on-sale in January with pricing expected to be pitched between $75,000 and $80,000.
The TMR 380 includes Ralliart developed six-pot brakes at the front and four-pot Brembos at the rear, a 50mm lowered ride height, adjustable Koni shock absorbers, 19-inch alloy wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 rubber.
Externally, the TMR 380 has a full body kit and twin bonnet scoops. Features inside include Recaro leather seats and a Fujitsu 10 sound system.
Blah!
