was driving on the highway and i was behind a smoking crapodore sv6 so
much blue smoke belching out of the exhaust system

the power from my 380 made the overtaking so easy

Yeah, sorry about that, it was me. I was almost completely out of fuel
and I accidentally filled it with diesel. It was a bit sluggish, but
went better than I thought it would. I was raced off the lights by a
guy on a ride-on lawnmower, who won easily.

Oh, you were the guy in the 380 that overtook me then? It's a shame you
didn't catch the guy on the ride-on mower though, as he was plenty
quick. Maybe next time you are getting the 380 fixed you can ask them
to see if they can get a Briggs and Straton replacement engine?

Dale.

LOL, you aren't in East Bentleigh are you.
My son and one of his mates have been repairing their bosses ride on
mower and they sometimes use it to go down to the corner shop, I hear it
easily drags off 380's:-)
At the moment its faster than the R1 in the garage, but then again the
R1 won't start:-)

Amazing how dozens of Holdens belch smoke, break down, and self destruct in
front of you and nobody else.
Considered increasing your meds?

Jokes aside, oilburning engines seem to be drastically reduced these days.
They can be blow-bying like all hell and eventually blow a piston, but loss
of oil-control is not a common sight,..unless its accompanied by some
expensive noise.

Catalytic convertors hide the blue smoke to a large degree on engines that
are using oil.

Does this eventually destroy the catalytic converter ? What happens ?

The neighbour's Alfa 156 either mustn't have one, or it's clogged to the max
and blown it's guts out. He left for work yesterday afternoon and left a
trail of blue haze right down the street.

*Real* nice work on a 6 month old car :)

My mates girlfriend keeps going on about getting an alfa.  I've been forwarding
your posts to her.  Last time I saw her she'd decided an MX-5 might be a much
better bet.  Thanks Noddy.

PS This is the same girl whose boyfriend convinced her a Lancia Beta would be a
good reliable run around.

Christmas. Must be *another* silly f.ck out there with a terminal mental
illness....

Mate of mine bought his wife a 156.
It's been faultless.

She should call Alfa Australia, as I'm sure they'd be interested in buying
it back and shipping it back to Italy to find out what they did wrong....

You really think they've got time to answer phones, with greenpeace on
their back about the oil spills everywhere.

If you asked a _lot_ of alfa owners, they'd probably say the same.
Emperors new clothes would have made more sense if they re-wrote it to
emperors new jag, or alfa etc etc.

Hell one alfa even got a hell of a bagging when tested by autospeed. If
those blokes (and I'll concede a couple of them were decent, but the
rest"?) can find heaps wrong with a demo car, I'd shudder to think how
many more actually existed.
