asked $33 for that.I'd seen Clockmeister here offer to get a code,

Since you asked so nicely, check back tomorrow evening ;-)

Just hope that he didn't just jot down the VIN before stealing the
radio.  :-p

Not that I could understand why anyone would want to steal the
standard radio from a commode!

I'm a Libran Engineer. I don't argue, I discuss.

We, err, didn't need the entire VIN. TMI, although
on most vehicles this is displayed to anyone passing
by.

I'd take an axe to anything that needed a new code after
unhooking the battery?!?!?

I use a cheap arsed radio/cd you could
prolly buy on pocket money ... I'm guessing it's
current value is $40. It replaced the $600+
Sony that shat itself. It is perfectly OK, prolly
better than the previous Sony.

Car stereos are so cheap to buy new - just like
computers. Why would anyone bother stealing
one?

Actually thinking about that, stealing an entire
car is not going to be of much value either
these days. Especially if it's a "M" word :-)

Now now Dawggie, be nice

I have here one very top shelf $40 CD radio
it must be worth stealing because on the box it points out loud and
proud that it had the added security of a removable face plate

and it looks just like a real good name brand stereo, except for the
fact that is looks like a real cheap and nasty copy of a real one
surely it's a dead set target for any professional car radio thief

A $40 unit sounds like a $40 unit and last about 40hours.

Junk IOW.

You can get a semi decent Sony unit for under $150.

Yes I know
I was just pointing out the uselessness of having such security on such
a sh.t radio

Maybe it's a flash radio in China where it's made and needs security over
there... but I doubt it.

He knows that, but geez if people keep saying it out loud he's likely to get a
swelled head ;-)
