Pretty common round here, except as people become more reliant on
training and ready made facilities, they get the idea that one should not
venture onto these roads without a flouro colored top and a brandnew 4x4
with after market tyres and shocks and a road safty kit, satellite
phone,and dvd player.

Yeah they all look the same anyhow, best off with a classic, then you only
have to deal with people saying that you are one foot off the grave and
have been paying it off for 35 years, and are so poor you can't get a
deposit on a commodore.
Classics are in Ferrari's are out.

{pictures Great Ocean Road, but not Hell's line of Road out to
Lithgow}

Yup, Military Road comes to mind, as does the whole Shite Bridge
experience.

It's OK if you own the 4x4. My 'lux after 16 years only has
IIRC one slight dent from a car door you would have to look
hard to find - then again I make concious decisions about
where/how I leave it parked at work, and in other places,
loading zones are my friend.
The only thing I wack my door into is the brick wall
in the garage - that's OK as it's got one of those slide on
plastic strip things on the edge of the door. I've never
wacked it into another vehicle though, and a single cab
'lux has rather longish doors (longer than a Smurf or
4Runner), so even parked off totally to the left side of the
garage, still wack drivers door into wall (It's a piss tiny little
garage though IMHO).

Cars are disposable items a dime a dozen on the 2nd
hand market, so I really would not be wanting to run
a used car business on Parramatter Road.
I've seen (and IIRC Node commented in NZ) ferpectly
good cars simply scrapped for parts.

As long as it does not rust, shite itself, or crash into the
billboard like on Futurama, and I can still make me own
fuel for it? :-)
I'd might buy one, however it would have to settle itself
in first.
I don't need a new/replacement car ATM.
Yeah, folk hand down the hard earned on new, then
treat it like shite and throw it in the dumpster. With
the right vehicle, don't need too.

Get over yourselves.
