Hi all,

this morning i drove from sydney to gosford with no troubles at all.

on the way back i filled up with petrol just before the big hill to sydney
and on the way up the hill my car started stuttering and would not make any
power over 2000rpm approx.

i pulled over and checked and made sure all cables and wires were tight and
secure  - it made no difference.

in neutral just reving (manual) it stutters and while driving it stutters
and wont have any oomph.

i managed to drive it back to sydney but i need to know whats wrong with the
little car...

thanks

Hmmmm, maybe it was raining and the filter is under the car close to
the tank and he wasn't interested in crawling under a car in his good
clobber.......Maybe....

Oz1...of the 3 twins.

cant get under the car

but besides the fuel filter, would this be a fuel related problem?

Very possible.
Was it a major brand servo or an independent, less likely form a major
but not impossible.
Try adding half a litre of metho in the tank, if there is water in the
fuel the metho will absorb it and it won't do any harm if there is no water.
What make and model car?

Reverse up a gutter.

Could be water in the fuel.  Or even diesel.  You did use the right pump?

Any other top poster would probably turn it upside down!  :)
But first make sure it is under the car as plenty aren't (depending on
the make and model).

Without knowing the make and model, or even the type of engine or fuel
system, it's displaying the classic symptoms of a fuel problem (unless
the ignition happens to be by Kettering).

The best place to start is the filter.  Empt the contents into a jar
and examine them carefully.  If there's water (which is the most
likely scenario) you'll also need to get rid of any that remains in
the tank, but it's always best to establish that for sure before you
pursue other remedies.
