I tend to buy what the majority of the public buys.

Then why are you looking at a BF or a 380?

Yep me too,Mitsubishi is more generally accepted these days for not have
a mojo come with it in the glove box, falcons used to be that way
however, falcons drink too much fuel, especially on hills.

I doubt it, Atec could never be that stupid :-)

He writes in a language that makes it hard to determine if he's stupid or
not :)

The content is usually pretty stupid and his witticism well... isn't so
stupid it is.

Yeah, I hate it when you buy a car and it has a mojo in the glove
box.  Good thing my VE didn't come with one or I would have been
pissed.

Heh I made a definite decision to wait til the next series/model commode
comes out. Also gives me a chance to check out the next Falcon by then.
And see how Holden responds to that. Basically no VE for me. :-)

Probably not a bad plan - I often say that it's a bad idea to buy a
new model in the first year or so of production (not that there's been
anything really wrong with my VE other than some sort of software bug
affecting the info display on the dash)...but then I drove a VE and
decided I would buy one anyway :)  (I would have had to buy one
sometime this year at any rate with a baby on the way).

My parents are looking at buying a Calais or Calais V late this year
or early next - I might suggest to them to wait and see what the new
Ford brings as well before making up their minds.

Yup but I still take it that your happy with your new beast still?
You still could trade in for a 380 though ;-) Only kidding.

Good idea although the Calais V does look great though. :-)

I could trade it for a 380, or even for two slightly used 380s, but on
the whole I'd rather not :)

Still very happy with the SS though, I still think it's the best way
to spend a large pile of money that I've ever come up with.  I've done
about 12,400km in it now and really have nothing bad to say about it,
only two quite minor faults (the front suspension clunk and now the
funny business with the info display that I think needs a software
update to fix), still love the performance and the handling and even
the fuel consumption is better than the official tests said it would
be.  So yeah, all good :)

They're also considering the Captiva although I doubt they'll go down
that road in the end.  I think the Vectra has probably now sworn Dad
off European cars for life (not that its faults are uniquely European)
so they'll be shopping among the locals as well as the Japanese and
Korean brands I would think.

I'll be pretty surprised, though, if they end up in anything other
than another Holden of some description.

Fair enough. :-)

Good to hear, bit of a bugger with the software glitch I hope they haven't
had a MS software developer for it. :-) I guess it will be fixed in no
time.

A captiva? oh gawd! Why not an Epica as well? My best bet is to get your
old man behind of a V8 again. :-) Or even A Subaru Liberty if they want a
Japper.

Well I would be talking your folks into a Calais V8 that's for sure.

>From reading around on LS1 I don't think I'm the only person who has
had this bug appear, so I'd say there's already a fix available for it
through software.  It's not that big a deal so I'll wait until the 15k
service to bring it up.  Basically, sometimes the radio information on
the display goes funny - either it doesn't appear at all and doesn't
let you change stations with the steering wheel buttons, or it keeps
showing 'Voice In' even when you've finished making a phone call, or
it keeps showing the radio station you were listening to before you
changed stations.  For some reason it happens more often if you've
switched the radio on after you started the car (as opposed to it
coming on with the ignition), or if you change from CD to radio mode.

Like I said, not a big deal, more of a minor inconvenience that has
'software update' written all over it.

Can't be a Liberty, one of the criteria is that I need to be able to
drive it from time to time as well, and I just can't drive the Liberty
(although that's probably not as relevant as it used to be because I
don't drive their car very often anymore).  The Captiva actually looks
allright for that type of vehicle - not that they need an SUV, it's
more that they're fed up with the poor visibility in most modern cars.

I reckon that'd be a good idea too, but Dad's well and truly past his
hoon days and V6 power does the job for him these days :)

Bah!
If I ever hear my daughter mutter those words I would disown her. ;-)

Thats like asking which is better, jumping off a cliff or being thrown?
neither is real good for your health.
VYBerlinaV8 - 29 Jun 2007 04:22 GMT
BF Falcon much better to drive, has bigger boot.  380 probably more
reliable, more fuel efficient.

I'd buy neither.
