Jesus... :)

Cop the pre launch rev up, will ya? If I was the starter I wouldn't want to
be anywhere near that filthy black sh.t. All that noise & smoke and it was
as fast as a junior dragster with a lawn mower engine in it :)

I saw another one like it and the guy had a tailwind. Couldn't see the
f.cking track let alone the tree :-)

Love it :-)

I've been known to use a similar launch method in the 'lux.
Get the turbo spun up with a little load on the engine then
let it rip. Yeah mine does make a bit of smoke too.

Black smoke is good, indicates that is about as much
power you can get from the engine.

Been in a 3500 Cummins Dodge Ram? - I have.
I Seriously expect it to leave a petrol V8 sh.tter
for dead :-p and it only needs 6 cylinders.

Yeah, but you have a serious lack of experience in petrol sh.tters. Any
decent V8 worth it's salt would blow such a vehicle straight to Mars.

Which is two short of the minimum requirement for a real engine.

Nope, need to minimise the quantity of moving parts. I think the
largest ship engines in the world are inline 6 to 14 cylinders, and
of course they are diesel :-)

So, you noticed there were f.ck-all in-line 4's?

It just wouldn't do to have the bastards shake themselves clean through the
bottom of the hulls:-)

When I was in the USA, saw a Cummins Dodge towing something the
size of a house up a hill the rental Camry I was driving  could not
keep
up with.

Oh, the Ford F250 verses Hummer truck pull off, too.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh9sMxVVVpw

The little Hummer only had the Cummins 4BT which doesn't have
any more than my 'lux, but it broke the drive shaft on the Ford
F250. Love it :-)

actually this type of contest has bugger all to do with the engine
ability and more to do with the available traction
that is why an old Hilux 4cyl diesel 4wd will tow a 6L V8 HSV backwards
all day long

That's true, however these are similar vehicles in the clip, both 4x4
I assume.

Also think there might be an element of driver skill not to lose
traction.

but they arn't similar vehicles
A Dodge Ram3500 is a 3 1/2 tone truck
tye F250 is a 2 1/2 tone truck
the Dodge has dual rear wheels
also tuype of transmission makes a difference
auto being less likely to spin wheels than manual

and yes driver skill is also involved
but both have the potential to pull similar weights

Better at what? Smoking the joint out to death and making enough noise to
wake the dead? Oh yeah, that heap of sh.t diesel absolutely *shat* on the
Viper in that respect.

I'm not a fan of the Viper by a long shot, but I'll bet any money you like
if you lined up 100 people and showed them that clip they'd prefer to have
the Viper rather than the ute.

You'd be the 100th person in line obviously.

Yep them and my 'lux are a little loud though.

I love my diesel because the clunky old agricultural thing simply
never dies and there's not a computer in sight. It functions because
mechanically it has no choice.

However if I were back in the suburbs I'd definitely have something
LPG powered. And more than likely have the correct number of cylinders
too.
