That's consistent with when NSW first introduced fixed cameras. The peons
ignored the signs until they get the infringement notices, then made lots of
noise, then slowed down where the signs told them to. :-)

What's the limit? 60? If so, that's probably not unrealistic for a start-up
installation that is running out of film regularly pinging people for more
than 15km/h over the limit. Once the traffic starts to do something close to
the limit, the camera will probably be adjusted to somewhere between 10%+1 &
10%+4 (the latter being what the RTA stated a camera in the Newcastle area is
set to). Of course, 60+10%+4 = 70...

Do they still use film? I remember reading somewhere they are on a
broadband set up and they can have the fine in the mail before you get
out of your car.

They'd better... Else they'd have NO evidence if the same rules apply to
them as to mere citizens.

Hmm - soon.. But in the meantime of course there's a lot of opportunity
for man in the middle attacks on their data - which of course you'd make
them prove didn't happen.
Works for Bush/Bair/Howard/Azar et.al. - works for me.

A splotch of grease renders them just as useless and is non-destructive so
it doesn't end up costing the general public anyway.

True - imaging..
"A device suspected of being used in vandalizing a speed camera"
To whit, a Pole and rope controlled lever assy adapted from pesticide
spraying duties.
The Gatsos installed here are new BIG BASTARD Gatsos unlike any others
I've seen pictured on the Web.
The idea of course is that those willing to provide necklaces of the
South African variety can't get standard car tyres draped over the
bastards. You'd need a crane to lift a tyre big enough to drape lovingly
over their boof heads:-(
And did I mention two of the execrable devices are near merge points?
The M1 device has one of the speed grids marked on a merging lane as it
narrows. Noice.. God help anyone who actually speeds up to prevent the
QldSpeshulSnookerTheMerger shite driver behaviour. Hell, those mongrels
are actually being ASSISTED By GovCo in their deviant and dangerous
behaviours. Now that WILL look good in court one day - all we need is a
Lawyer with more than half-a-brain.
Wish us luck:-)

I can't see the point in still using film. Currently the RTA
for example have live cams you can view on the web to see
what the traffic is doing at selected locations.
That and speed/'light cams get the vandal makeover, I'd
be expecting them to go "no point - you are already caught
out".
