hey people.
i have just brought a 2nd hand VT commodore, my dealer has given me a
radio code but it doesnt seem to be working i have rung around and
people wanna charge me between $30 - $130 to get the code.
which i think is stupid because i shouldnt have to pay for something
that should have been supplied.
so i went back to my dealer and he doesnt seem to be helping..
can ANY one get me my security code for free

Jessi,
Thats why they are security coded.
Go back to the dealer who sold it if it's a Holden dealer.
For all we know it good be stolen and this is not a great place to
post VIN Numbers

you can get a VIN anywhere, walking down the street, they are posted on every
registration sticker for all to see

The problem is that the code on the system doesn't match the radio fitted to
your VT most likely because it's been swapped at some point.. In order for
the dealer to obtain the code that matches your radio the radio needs to be
pulled out of the dash and it's serial number and VIN faxed off on a radio
PIN request form to the manufacturer.
The dealer gets charged about $20 for the return fax with the correct code
(unlike when the correct code is on the system) so that charge has to be
passed on.

Afraid not in this instance. Pull the radio and check to see if a four digit
code has been written somewhere on the radio, wreckers etc often write the
code on the radio.
