Petrol and SI engines are just wrong for so many reasons.
After I switched to a turbo diesel vehicle after owning petrol
sh.tters it was bliss on a stick.
A friend of mine who thought diesel was shite, I convinced to
buy a turbo diesel - he has owned around 20+ petrol sh.tters
before getting a turbo diesel and thinks the same as me now.
SI engines are a f.cking hack. Recalcitrant peices of shite
that have to have spark plugs to ignight the fuel, some sort of
fuel that they actually like otherwise they may self destruct.
f.ck that. Been there done that - hated it.
I can pour used engine oil in my fuel tank and it will run
perfectly, not to mention kero, petrol to a %age and any
number of other fuels, even used (filtered) veggie oil.
So if I run my diesel on veggie oil you would have to ban
Mc Donalds and other places of fried food?

Because most Europeans are tight arses who don't want to pay for petrol. If

No, they're not.
There is *nothing* wrong with spark ignition engines and 99% of the world's
car driving public doesn't have a problem with them. Yes, the fuel is
flammable and yes it is dangerous if spilled, but *so* is Diesel and it is
just as bad. If you want to make a bomb, you use *diesel* and amonium
nitrate, not petrol.
If petrol and spark ignition were anywhere near as bad as you seem to think
it is, it wouldn't be used for aircraft engines. As it is you can count the
number of diesel powered aircraft on the fingers of one hand and have enough
change to play the piano accordian.

If diesel floats your boat then good luck to you, but the world doesn't

Yep, all those places are a scourge on society designed to lure in the young

If only people would maintain their vehicles...
Reality is, they don't - so I tend to agree with you...
(Apart from old Magnas) Almost every smoke belching vehicle on the road
is a diesel of some form.
Either some simple minded tradesman in a van or ute, braindead Mums in
an excessively sized 4x4, public transport... and of course, trucks.
BTW, yesterday out of sheer curiosity I did random surveys whilst
driving in the Illawarra, and *on average*, for every 9 cars in the
opposite lane there was one truck.

So you are saying that only one out of ten vehicles on the road needs to
be there and the rest should be using public transport, sounds correct

What we really need is a decent rail system to take the load off the roads.

Bloody hell - haven't we been here before??
But.
We had one, once...
Hard to believe - the roads were 'upgraded' in the sense of being
slightly less fatal -and the rail-lines were remorselessly removed.

In 90% of case the cargo can't go onto a train but the people driving
the cars usually can, cars outnumber trucks on the roads 100's to 1 so
its obvious what needs to be done to free up the roads for commercial
traffic which is the only traffic thats necessary.
