But dear OzOne, I was just putting your Aircraft related postings in their

live and breath it every day ??

Especially when the road *bends* to the left. (watch for the sign with 5
seconds to go)
The dickhead on the bike was actually making a right turn from the left
lane.

What!!!!!!!

Crikey, some of you blokes from aus.aviation are blind. The
idiot on the bike was doing a *forced* left turn FFS. The sign
shows a left hand T-intersection.

Is that where "flying blind" originated!!!!!!!

Just to stop a bun fight before it starts. We have
T-intersections like that in Oz too, where the major road goes
*with* the T. My points are:

1. The second bike *was* going to follow his mate up the minor
road, until he was herded.

2. The major road *didn't bend, it turned.

3. The second rider was to occupied with overtaking, to ride
to the conditions of the road. He would not have made a turn
into the minor road IMHO he *should* have been travelling
straight on, (but not on that side of the SUV). :-(

Seems more like your observation skills are too poor.

The sign shows a left hand BEND and an advisory speed, not a T
junction.

It is a left hand bend.

It is marked as such, and the road curves to the left, as do the road
markings.

You mean, except that he totally misjudged his illegal,
ill-considered, idiotic maneuver?

>2. The major road *didn't bend, it turned.

The sign is a left hand bend sign with an advisory speed.  The road
markings curve to the left.

It's called a corner....

Which of course means that he wasn't an idiot for attempting to
overtake over a double line and make a right turn in front of the car
from the left....

Rubbish. He was *forced* left by the SUV. Also the sign
*clearly* shows the *major* road *turning* left.

It does not, it shows a right-angle turn on the sign and that
is clearly visible. How's your observation skills?

*Turns* left is right. I see a distinct right-angle on the sign.

Who can't read?

See point 3. Hello is Paul at home?

err, the minor road goes *straight* ahead. Which is where our
idiot rider wanted to go.

And yeah, under lawful overtaking procedure, he *would*
overtake on the *left*.

And, although that minor road was straight ahead, it would have legally been
considered a right turn as the road he was originally on had a left bend.

> 2. The major road *didn't bend, it turned.

It's a left bend, dickhead. Look at the sign and the road markings.

Straight on (in a directional sense) was the minor road which required a
right turn.

psst, Sacca, there are idiots in aus.aviation who x-post, so
even though one of your own called it "benign", there are

Although some bikes  do "fly" in a fashion  have snipped AA

My take on this  discussion (given that it started out with a clip to
a Russian heavy lifter) then a bike clip appeared ?
So will stay with the bike .

1 It appears to be in the lands where they drive on the wrong side of
the road
2 Bikes both did illegal  overtakes
3 Bike 2  overtook on the wrong side
bike 2 got nailed by a vehicle driver who obviously did not know or
care if bike was there
Can not see  blinker on vehicle  communicating with other road users
4 Bike two  is lucky

Now to throw a read herring into  this "discussion"

Note the  road markings

2 at the very end of the clip   where did bike 1 get to ?

3 Could that sharp bend sign and the fact that unbroken lines indicate
that the Sharp left hander was a bit further on  than  the street
that the vehicle turned into and hence nailed the bile ?  Just another
option- perhaps

Here is a clip re bikes and cars  good if only for the sweet sound of
the car :)    http://youtube.com/watch?v=2LR2rEOAiiw

Cross. I think you mean he should not have attempted to
overtake given the conditions. He should have gone to the
right side of the lane to go straight on.
> bike 2 got nailed by a vehicle driver who obviously did not know or

Tick.

Tick. No, but I think I see brake lights, very late.
> 4 Bike two  is lucky
To be alive? We don't know that he was unscathed, do we.

> Now to throw a read herring into  this "discussion"
Why not.

> Note the  road markings
Noted. Double line (blurry in vid, but there), major road
going left, minor road going straight on, possible speed
advisory but can't make it out.

> 2 at the very end of the clip   where did bike 1 get to ?
Straight ahead along the secondary/minor road. How many times
does everyone get overtaken only to see vehicle turn off
within a kilometre?

> 3 Could that sharp bend sign
Right-angle T-intersection sign.
and the fact that unbroken lines indicate
> that the Sharp left hander was a bit further on  than  the street

Don't think so. I don't think rider 2 had eyes for anything

You got it son. But you're wrong about the signed road being
further on. Have a look at the road ahead just before the
vehicle obscures it (where the first bike is).

unpleasant .

Working a little less than 3 days a week is hard? :-P

He is. And he pretends to be other people (like "Noddy").

Watch the *headers* Phil. :-)

Will do . Re work  there is *plenty* out here as one MD said "again"
the other day
We are so short of people  if they have a heart beat we will employ/
train  and be able to use them .

Streets are paved with gold for any one that wants to really
work .

Well, that's not me (too old).

And I know folk that have made heaps of money in WA, and blown
it and/or have bad health.

The road straight ahead turned to sh.t and was narrow. Do you
wear glasses Tobe? If you do, get new ones. :-P

Apparently not - advisory bend signs have arrow heads, junction signs
do not.  See the "Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices".

If you can't see the arrow head indicating a bend advisory, you really
do need your eyes checked.

My bet is they had none and buckleys getting away with a takeoff in the
other direction..

Nope didn't even look for one but I reckon two things.
Opposite direction appears to be a tad uphill.
Opposite direction has ye olde waay better than 50 Ft obstacle a few K's
out - the runway looks like it's in a sort of valley though I'm guessing
there - that Il waddled into the air, and only the ground actually
receding made it look anything but dead dangerous:-)

Natch, we're assuming that the takeoff was *not* an exercise in
brinksmanship.

Why is there houses in the opposite direction?
That video reminds me of a similar stunt many years ago in Melb with a
big Antonov cargo plane, at the time a neighbour was "Environment
Officer" with the CAA in Melb, he was responsible for looking after
aircraft noise complaints.
The Antonov was attempting a record distance with max payload, after it
took off the neighbour got a call from a house owner in the flightpath
asking if he could send someone around to clean the tyre marks from his
roof:-)
It flew over densely populated areas at a very low altitude and it
struggled to reach 1000ft before it was over Port Philip Bay.

The controller said it: "he needs to be going faster than that"
