I guess if it fits with whatever mountings it has. With 'luxen you
can swap them around. Things can also be modified.

I'm an idiot because mine is Baker and Priem, not HR

Someone beat me to it
you're an idiot
try fitting a towbar off your Hilux to an extra-cab of the same year as
your's, or a 4runner or any Hilux after 1998
it won't fit

he also asked if it can LEGALLY be fitted to a different model
and you talk about modifying, be vary careful when modifying where
legalities are concerned

I think the stamp is only for the installer to tell him if it will fit on
that model
I think also that the body styles are the same, so it should fit

By law (in NSW), a compliant plate must be on a towbar or it
will not pass a rego inspection (if done properly). I know
this, I've been there.

I also wonder about different models, Ecotec v Alloytec,
brakes, weights etc.

I'd have check my HR bar on my 'lux - I bought it and simply bolted
it on  same with my turbo charger. Athol hates me for that and thinks
I need a G092 cert for turbo.

My tow bar has a plate on it - I'll check when my friend drives it
up from Shiteney tommorow.

So long as the fitment and allowable towed mass is the same, judicious
use of a cold chisel should render the Y illegible.  ;-)

Wouldn't the "Y" look a little out of place then? :-(

Then try a ball pein hammer... followed by the judicious use of a
centre punch!  ;-)

In the Lada's case the tow bar was to allow the Lada to be easily
towed...

{Riddle}

Q - Why do Ladas have heated rear windscreens?

A-  To keep your hands warm while you are pushing.

During it's miserable life, it towed a Ford, Toyota, and a friends V8 Commodore
in that order... but not all at once.
