jonz - 25 Jul 2009 02:12 GMT noticed a post in here a week or so ago, saying that rego labels in WA are to be dispensed with. good idea....got my NSW renewal a few days ago, and it informs me that "label not required to be receipted when renewed on line or over the phone" begging the question what`s the use of the thing`s ? since the cop can get all the info. he needs from the plate. maybe, it`s because, in NSW (aka the state of corruption) somebody with a mate(s) in high places is making a motza out of the printing?.....whodathunkit...

Oh? they musta changed it - used to have to have them receipted, my last NSW one was last year.
Well, if they don't glue on right meybe they had a budget cut :-)
I've gotta work out what QLD laws are on them - not yet looked.
I went a few years without even bothering to stick them on until a friend noticed and mentioned he knew someone who got a "Ahhh hum?" from an over observant cop. If mine fell off I'd put it in my glove box and they would have to ask to see it. My label does not even mention half of what it should including make/model. Useless things.

The QLD one will have the VIN on it, and should also have the make/model and colour of the vehicle listen to the Police feqs and you will hear them doing VIN checks all the time it may not be such a big deal for most people but it's the low life sector checks where they are very useful That is the dickheads who think that swapping rego plates makes their car now registered might even make it easier to find you when some c.nt steals your precious Hilux and it is found with new plates on it

I can't recall the last time I had to go to the registration branch to renew ny registration on any of my vehicles in Victoria it was that long ago I have done it all over the internet with BPay The only time I had to go there, is to change details of ownership or engines

If your hulix is still registered in NSW after the end of Friday next week, it will be subject to the new raising and lowering rules, which the 2" spring lift plus larger diameter tyres won't pass.
Then again, as long as you don't drive it in NSW, there shouldn't be a problem...

It's not likely it will be registered in NSW ever again although will likely take a day trip or two across NSW border when it is regoed here.
NSW rego due end of Sep, so thought I'd get my money's worth out of that first. Reminds me gotta find my QLD Cust Ref # so I can pay for my new rego plates I had reserved for me. Again at $2295 that can wait a bit closer to the time too.

Noddy - 25 Jul 2009 13:32 GMT > sh.t the plates are worth more than the vehicle By about 2 grand. Still, you've got to pay a premium if you want to drive around with "FUKWIT" as your rego plate number.

"FUKWIT" == 958356389 My plate == 1059139221
Don't think either would fit.
"FUKWIT" in Vic format would be cool to flip into place when I knew you were driving behind me though :-)

Okay, so lets assume the above situation - modified suspension/tyres - 100% legal and registered in QLD. You drive into NSW after the new rules come into force, technically, can you be defected?
I assume NOT... but then it's not wise to assume anything these days... cheers

Of course, after Friday it won't be possible to transfer vehicles that don't meet the new NSW rules into NSW registration.

Likely open a whole can of worms doing so.
I'm more worried about a NSW regoed vehicle in say QLD. RTA own the rego of that vehicle therefore are responsible for right to display NSW plates. QLD police might be expected to uphold whatever NSW regulations are. What are insurance issues? InsCo could say they don't care which state you were driving in when you crashed and injured someone, the vehicle was still defective under it's home state registration.
Meybe I should do something before next Friday.

You'd still get fined if you didn't stick the departmental advertising on a window.
