My road trip ...

Went yesterday for a road trip didn't
get back until this morning and got my
arse kicked for not not telling anyone where I was.

Ford Maxi Econovan drives well at around 130kph. Has no rego plates,
but police just check VIN because it is under rego still. I'm starting
to wonder
if rego sticker and plates are mutually exclusive.

Anyway Southport up to Brisbane up to Coolum beach, f.cked if I know
where that is (Sunshine hwy), so slept overnight in back of van in
Brisbane coming back
as the person whom I bought it for put a double matress in back - good
sleep.

The thing for a petrol sh.tter goes good on highway, it don't
go up hills well, where as my 'lux - leave it in fifth.

The gearbox bearings will fail long before that and only if it doesn't
break down when the head gasket blows:-)

Will that be before or after he gets run over by a road train for lugging up
a hill in fifth gear at 9km/h?

Not the Hilux:-)
His Lux probably in excellent condition for its age but FFS it is after
all just a 20 yr old work ute, it amazes me how people get so
emotionally attached to vehicles, I can sort of understand it if the
vehicle is something rare and valuable but why they get attached to
something so ordinary is beyond me.
Only car that I've owned that might fit into the valuable or rare
category is the Mk1 GT Cortina, I wish I had kept it but I'm not loosing
any sleep over it.

If you do get all misty, take a trip to Bomaderry. There's a BRG one
parked outside the Motel opposite the Golden Urges nearly every day of the
week.

Well, he's about 87 cents short of a buck, so you don't have to be Sherlock
Holmes to work it out :)

I'm much the same.

There's been a few cars I've owned that I'd like to have today, but at the
end of the day I was happy to get the money for them that I did at the time.
I just think that everyone who sells an original GTHO for 500 grand today is
a complete and utter c.nt who deserves to die a horrible death.

I'm not bitter about selling mine for 2800 bucks though :)

Bet that fact has caused a few tears over the years:-)
A mates XYGT (not a HO) was sold after someone in Warrnambool went
through a stop sign and T boned him, it could have been repaired but he
was so pissed off about the crash he sold it, if he only knew at the
time that 25yrs later it would be worth crazy money.

Yeah, it has, but what I would have made on that one if I had it today would
have just about covered the losses on the other 99 or so that *didn't*
become collectable :)

Nasty.

Although the boom seems to have well and truly busted now, no one could have
predeicted the incredible prices people would be paying today for 60's and
70's muscle cars. I mean, it only seems like 5 years ago that you struggled
to get more than a few thousand bucks for a HK Monaro, now people seem keen
to show how stupid they are by paying ridiculous money for rusted out
shells.

Simple, hire the nanocreatures off Dr Who or Torchwood, get a picture of the
Ford you want, a pile of Ford rust, seperate it from the bog, discard the bog..
and just whisper mummeee mumeee.. are you my mummmy then run like hell.

My 'lux is indeed rare. They are no longer made in 4x4 single cab
pickup.
Good luck finding one in excellent condition. Sure double cabs are a
dime
a dozen.

As for a Cortina - metal shreader material. Ugly as all feck.

That doesn't make it rare or desirable, the reason they don't make that
configuration any more is very few want them.

Do you even know what a 1965 Mk1 GT Cortina looks like?
IMO they were a good looking car in their day and that's why were at one
time one of the best selling cars in the world.

Nah, 230,000 km - 'lux does not care, head gasket and temp are
perfect.

Econoshit runs hot, has a replacement engine and 550 thou  km - but
that is not my  problem.

No wonder it was called the Bongo (original name for the arsehole of a
thing). It will suck air and backfire and blow something all in a big
splurge of smog.

They should of called it the Mazda Bong instead it will evidently drive you
insane.

I don't think group therapy will work on the Dawggie at least, and unsure about
his friend. Pot smoking takes it's toll. A place to visit in order to understand
might be http://psychcentral.com/disorders/sx37t.htm

That's all of a two-hour (each-way) trip.  Why on earth did you need to

Have you ever pushed an Econovan the rest of the way to where you're going
and then home again after the full ramifications of driving it at 130Km/h
washed the windscreeen and decorated the road?

Maybe got stuck on the Goatway.. though the new Go-Via sh.t kept us moving last
time although they take an additional $1 when you deposit into their account and
40c for each photo (with the scheme we took) but it's much better than the
leap-frog money grab approach if you don't have any money in credit. You get the
initial bill then if you don't pay it up, then ups, failng that ups to $140 IIRC
then I guess if you don't pay that you will be sent to Tambo and waterboarded by
ASIO, then all you goods stolen and sold to cover costs of your fine and
torture... all this for daring to use a road. Do you know how much the upkeep on
a dungeon is these days? Inmates expect running water... those bastards.
Nth side of Bris to GC alone can take 2 hrs, ask me how I know.
