The air filters are now due for replacement since some carby trouble last
weekend at the Collie Motorplex apparently blew a hole in one of them.

It looks like your engine breather vents into the windscreen washer bottle?
Looks like the wires are still connected to said washer bottle?
Doesn't your windscreen get a bit messy :)

A spare (and unwired) one, yes. It's not ideal - the breather should feed
back into a carby. But I haven't worked out how to do that yet.
Anyway I tracked down some new Unifilters today. The guy only had three in
stock so I have to wait a week for the fourth one! Sad. Bloody expensive
things they are too, but I now know how to look after them properly.
