Big Bull bars

Gonz - 21 Feb 2005 20:40 GMT
Local guy here has a commodore ute with this massive ally bull bar on the
front, like this bull bar is prolly around a foot higher than the bonnet, it
looks so yuck, when I first seen it I were stoped at a red light and the
couple in the car next to me were laughing at it too, he also has the 4
spotties on the roll bar and big mud flaps.

This guy needs to be told how ugly it looks with the bull bar.

Saw a commodore ute while passing through Terang recently with a bull bar
that looked like it was cut from a Kenworth and the aerials hanging off it
were big enough to double as footy goal posts.

Many utes around my way have large bull bars. Banning these on light
commercials will results in *B&S Ball Rage*.  That's like banning the Bundy
mud flaps, the 2,000,000,000 candle power spotties, exhaust stacks,  Lee
Kernaghan signatured panels, long neck tinnie holders and clearance lights.
Good luck.

BTW, I can remember seeing a really crappy Ford ute around my way. It was a
beaten up shitbox but instead of having a 'Longreach' sticker on the
tailgate, it had a professionally done *Dryreach* one instead. :)))))

Haven't done that for decades. :-)

And it was on a dive boat. Forgot my "patch". :-(

Don't forget the side steps that give them such low ground clearance
that they can only be driven on the best of black tops.

I saw one on the weekend that had more smoke blowing out of it's
exhaust stacks than *any* truck I've ever seen. Don't know what the
smoke was from though - prolly a smoke machine he'd installed to look
kool. Fukn.

Geez, I'm really not in a good mood today...

Dozens of like utes in the scrub,....even up untill 6 or so years ago the
venerable HQ -HX ute preferabley with a V8 was THE go amongst the
cow-cockeys and sons.

The side-lights appear to be a mutation or what happens when a Kenworth
f.cks a Holden ute.

australia is about the only country in the world where bullbars are
fitted to vehicles. yes of course they are in other countries, but
*mostly* in very small nos.

why is that? we are hardly the only country in which the risk of
animal strike is present.

There's more to it than just that. Animal strike is at least as much of
an issue in many parts of Canada, and doubtless other places. On the
other hand, there's no point fitting a bullbar to protect the front of
your bonnet from the moose's legs if the rest of it is going to land in
your windscreen and kill you just the same. So in Canada and the
northern states of the US, instead of fitting dirty great bullbars, they
try to avoid hittng wildlife.

Roos are large enough that a bullbar offers some protection and low
enough to the ground that a bullbar does more than simply remove the
legs neatly whilst leaving the carcass to land in your lap.

Same applies in Middle Eastern countries due to camels as well, was
driving down the Kings Hwy in Jordan and saw quite a few cars with
crushed roof sections dumped on the side of the road.

that's a good point but of course there are still plenty of animals in
other countries which are of varying sizes and which a bullbar would
be of benefit for.

but they don't fit them...

"Fuckem," a phrase used by me and mine when we express our opinion of
city bound hyundai excel driving pussy boys when they whine about the
bars on the front of my personal transport. Of course, on a night out
in the big smoke, a bull bar also doubles as an obnoxious drunken
bastard bar. I love the sound of their stupid thick skulls bouncing of
the top bar - "BOOOONG.."

The only racist, old cock, is you. Clearly you don't drive a real
vehicle with a real steel bull bar so you have never had the satisfying
experience of hearing that beautiful resonant tone from real Australian
BHP steel.

If only the barramundi would bite as hard and as fast as you did.

Not as far as I'm aware.

Most bullbars are made locally by after-market suppliers, and sold as
"dealer fit" accessory items

Thats certainly the case in WA, can't say i've seen a plastic SUV type
roobar neither, 99% appear to be alloy.

Yes and they are softer than they look, don't assume they're 2mm steel just
because they powder coat them black.

Only as options, and they're not made by factory, you are probably blinker
eyed and can't see all the Pajero's & Patrols with factory bars.

Anywhere west of the last streetlight you will find these
the criteria is something like this

Ute-
anything as long as it is a single cab(extra cabs are sort of ok)
V8 is the prefered choice and gets top cred, diesels are next, 4&6
petrols are quite low in cred value
it MUST have a min of 75% of rear window covered in B&S, Bundy Rum, Cow
Horn and XXXX stickers
extra value if you can cover the guards and bonnet with large Bundy Bear
or XXXX sticker
it will need to have a bug deflector on the bonnet, and it must be a
coloured one,

bullbar-
Min 5 poster cow catcher type, min 8 inches above the bonnet height, min
4 bull lights, min 2 "whitestick" UHF antennas at least 3 metres or
higher, min 2 truck mudflaps at the outer edge, CAT is the prefered
brand but Mack is a close second, and for that finishing touch a couple
of old waterbags
extra credits if you can fit a set of long horn cow horns, more bull
lights and antennas(these don't need to be connected to anything

The Rear-
MUST contain a roll bar with at min 4 bull lights and as many antennas
as you can(again they don't need to work) fit between the lights("one
flash and your ash" stickers should be placed on the rear of lights)
exhaust stacks are only good if you have a diesel, petrols don't blow
black smoke
Must have min 1 x Blue cattle dog, other pig hunting breeds are
acceptable, small yap yaps will get you bashed to death
heavy duty tow bar for tug of wars and pulling stuff down with
and last rear mudflaps, again CAT are the prefered choice, they should
be fitted right at the rear and inwards 8 inches from the outer corner
and two is all thats needed, smaller mudflaps should be fitted just
behind the rear wheels and covered in as much mud and grass as possible

Wheels-
anything that can have tyres fitted, don't even think of fitting18 inch
rims and low-pro tyres, they are no good for circle work in the paddocks
because of the rocks and stumps you will hit
tyres need to throw as much mud and crap when doing such circle work

you only need to wash your class bit of gear when heading into the big
smoke, but don't go overboard. water is precious out in the sticks, a
quick hose down from the nearest bore pump will do just fine

clean and polished utes are either new and have just been picked up or
driven by w.nker wannabes

> Some of you guys are downright xenophobic about anyone who chooses to
> drive something different to your own narrowly defined ideal car.

but they are not different, they are exactly the same as the 3 million
other bushie feral utes

Too right and they'd have a fit if some bushie started sprouting about
tinted windows, aircon, DVD players, mags, polished trays, coloured seats &
Nismo stickers.

Come on Kev, dont hold back, let him have it!

(Sarcastic Mode ON)
Kev, haven't you seen the local Charleville Holden. They sell Utes with  8 litre Cats under the
bonnet and consoles large enough for those 8 radios. Huge mud flaps are to ensure that the rear end
holds enough mud to stop the rear wheels from coming off the ground due to the weight of the front
bulbar!"  The large RMW Sticker on the back window is to hide the ugly bastards.
(OFF)

If they REALLY wanted to be safe from animals then they would install a couple of large bars across
the windscreen to stop those roos from entering the cabin at speed.  At least the vehicle would then
handle well enough to avoid the objects in question without the extra 100 Kgs over the front end.

I saw one in Toowoomba that was that fricken big that it was at least 400mm Wider than the Ute it
was mounted to! Looked liek it weighed at least 100Kgs.  On the bright side he hadnt got around to
installing the Radios and Flaps yet.  Driver was around 18.

Around here most of the bullbars are for those bastards that jump out of the
bushes with guns, the bigger the bullbar the less likely they'll hold their
ground. There are a lot of screens over windows and windscreens, like the
mesh on security doors but some are a lot finer, this is to protect from the
bastards that throw rocks at cars to try and cause an accident so they can
rob the occupants. Just watch it'll start happening down there as soon as
they start letting larger numbers of these guys in as fruit pickers.

I first noticed this f.cked-up trend circa 2000 in Toowoomba, since then
it has only escalated to ridiculous levels... all the ariels, LED
lights, mud flaps, stickers etc.

And yet, I'll bet they'd *all* look at any jap car that's been 'riced'
or 'blinged' with contempt.

Ah well, it least they flag their stupidity loud and clear for everybody :)
