Hi All,
I've got a '00 Astra CD (manual hatch).
At the moment I'm getting about 10L/100kms (about 470kms/tank)
When I did the research for the car, the claimed fuel economy was
8L/100K (city) and 5.6L/100k (hwy)
I'm running 195/15 tyres and live in Sydney, so mainly city traffic.
I know a lot of things influence this, but i was wondering what other
astra owners are getting, especially in Sydney and what tyres they're
running too.
TIA,
JOe

That's about right for Sydney city traffic. Remember our city traffic can be
considerably more congested than other city traffic. It does achieve those
figures out on the freeway as well. Premium fuel and correct tyre pressures
etc make a decent difference too.

Try knocking it into neutral when running up to lights, and skipping a gear
on acceleration between lights. This practise works in my 2.2L Camry,..but
it has a torquey motor as well,..BTW it gets about 10L/100ks in town.

My other half is doing a little bit better then 10L per 100km driving in and
out of Perth during peak hour every day, so for Sydney that would seem about
right by my reckoning.
