Got an oil warning light on my '02 A6 - checked the level (it was fine). A
friend of mine with an A4 said this was a known issue and told me to open
and close the bonnet ?!. He said this fix was good for a while - a faulty
sensor was the issue.

Sounds nuts to me - is this right ?

Thanks for any help.

August,
Sure it sounds nuts.......so does a blown license plate light shutting the
instrument cluster illumination down (Type 44 issue - aka 100/200/5k).
Have you tried it?  Did it work?  What did the dealer say?  Have you checked
www.audiworld.com forums? (if it's "known", it'll be there...)
Cheers!
