Do you really need 'radio removal tools' to get the radio out of a '96 A4 B5
?

i would get the oem parts to remove them. cus the locking mechanism is a bit
convuluted and can esily stick or break any homemade soln. the parts only
cost 4-5$ + shipping from ebay.

i bought mine a few weeks ago.

Not sure on the A6s!
Does yours look like this with the need for 4 tools?

I will assume that you are not the first owner of this Audi.

hi and thanks for reply and the download-
my radio looks exactly like that- I have the four keys, but am no
getting the release.
I will try again and do the wiggling and such. I just wanted to ensur
you do not have to pull apart the dash and behind the radio to get i
out. that is what the aftermarket guy wanted to do- so thanks. I wil
keep trying.

I have an Audia A4 2003 model. Car stood for a week while I was away
Battery went dead. Friend removed and had it recharged before
returned. Radio is now dead. Have checked the fuse and replaced it. An
other fuse box to check or on the radio itself if I remove it

Funny story.
I had turned the radio off in a 2003 Jetta while I was scanning for DTCs.
Owner called me back asking me what happened to the radio.....it did not
work anymore.
I asked him if he turned it on.  lol  he hadn't.

I will assume that you had turned it on and it still does not function/turn
on.

I think you need those special tools to pull the radio out.
I have used steak knives to remove some radios in the '97 Passats, but the
correct tool works much faster and easier.  ;-)

Usually the older radios have a fuse in the back of the radio.
look on ebay at item # 310151494855
you will see a fuse in the back of this radio.
