Question:

The Audi 1987 5000 takes a special Audi recommended Pentosin CHF 7.1
Mineral Oil for the steering rack, etc.

When the seals are leaking, has anybody ever found an additive to
improve the situation, instead of replacing the entire unit?

Some have claimed success with Lucas power steering treatment but that is just
from comments on the AudiWorld forum, not my own experience.

If you search the T44 AudiWorld forum you will also find a few people who have
drained the system and refilled with a synthetic (Mobile 1 IIRC) and they claim
it cured leaks and has been fine for > one year.

Don't let the V8 mislead you. This is the T44 series forum.
