Well, I'd *start* by getting out the dial caliper and checking the front brake
rotors for run-out - or just replace them outright unless they're quite new...

Oh and don't forget about the exhaust hitting some of the body during hard
acceleration and it might also be affected by how much weight is in the
vehicle!

I have a similar vibration problem with my A6 4.2. Local dealer has
diagnosed fragmented catalyst monoliths, and I seem to remember he
wants about £1,600 to replace them.
