After a few 100+ degree days, I’ve noticed that the radio cover won’t
stay closed (it stays in the "up" position"). I can push it down
but it won’t stay closed. Does anyone have a solution to fix this
problem or what happened to the closing mechanism? Thanks in advance.

mine sometimes won't stay closed, but it's because I have a Harmon Kardon
Drive Play "brain" jammed in there behind the radio, which I presume is
stopping the radio from being pushed all the way back in the slot.
I suggest you try pushing your radio back in just a tiny bit.
Sometimes I push my radio back in a bit, and I can get the lid to stay closed,
so for sure, you should be able to.

Do a search for "audi TT radio flap repair kit".
There is a kit to repair this, it is not very expensive. Here is one source
in the UK:
