Quotes for Front wheel bearings x 2 fitted.

Dealer £430

3rd party £280 (using Audi original parts and I used this company for my cam
belt change 30K ago)

That's nothing.  Here in California, a German car specialist quoted me
$530 USD and an Audi dealership quoted me $350 USD for the 10K mile OIL
CHANGE. Oh, wait that comes with a carwash too.  Now it's totally worth
it.

Are you surprised?  Dealers mainly make their money by servicing cars,
not by selling them.

they make plenty from both ends, try getting a discount on a new Audi in the
UK and you will not. A 30k car does not cost 30k to manufacture...........I
doubt it costs 10k with production costs as they are.

You should pay your dealer a visit, they're talking discounts right up-front
these days! :-)

Don't forget that your dealer has a nice showroom to maintain which I doubt
the 3rd party has. They also have salesmen to pay (only some of their
earnings will be commision).

It is always a good idea to shop around for prices and just call the dealer
first, even for parts!
Then you will be happier going to an independent repair shop that enjoys
Audis!  ;-)
