hi there,

i have a 1987 325is that i bought a turbo kit for (or at least i thought so)
through my own error i had actaully purchased a e36 turbo (easily adapted)
kit,. now everything can be made to work except one thing. the exhaust
manifold does not match up by bolt pattern of course. now i origianally was
thinking of getting a solid metal piece welded on that almost converted the
hole size to the proper e30 size and stud placement, but the manifold is
cast iron meaning dangerous to weld. sending the kit back is not an option.
any ideas how i can make this work?

Keep an eye on EBay, there's an E30 turbo manifold on there about
every other week. It seems the 524 turbo diesel manifold will also
work with a minor wallowing of one of the bolt holes.

oh sorry, buying a new one is not an option either as 5000$ canadian was
spent on the kit, not to mention the fact i had to get new injectors (500)
and a new fuel pump (300) plus boost controller (600) so now im kind of
against spending any more money. would there be a serious problem if i put
the e36 turbo manifold on? it will line up if i drill new stud holes in the
manifold, but the holes are just a slight little bit offset maybe not even
half a cm on each hole. would that break stuff?

thanks for the help

If it's that close, take it to a machinist and get their opinion...

Look on www.ebay.de for a 324d manifold. Not to bad to ship it over so
long as it's sent surface. There was even one on ebay UK recently (524d
and 324d were never sold in the UK).
