1987 325i hood issues

my hood will not open the release is broke. how do i manually get it
open?

The hood latch is at the forward edge of the hood; just inboard of the
inboard headlight on the left side of the car.  You can gain access by
removing the small section of grill on that side.  The latch is at the top
of the opening exposed by the grill; just under the lip of the hood.  You
can get it to release by pushing the latch inboard with the blade of a large
screwdriver.
