Put a box end wrench on the front side. It will wedge against the starter to stop it from turning. I know it's a long shot, but I'll ask anyway. Do you know of a decent source of mechanical/workshop manual-type information specifically for the 325iX?  SignatureDan. A guy on www.bmwboard.com replaced his starter recently, and it looks like same exact car. Are you AWD_Guy on www.BMWboard.com ?
