I had an interesting event happen last evening. I started the engine and
pushed the button to lower the top. It did not budge, nor did the red
light come on. I jumped out to get my wind break, put it in place, got
back in and tried again... nothing. I stopped the engine wait about 10
seconds, restarted and tried again. It worked. I had done nothing
different as far as I can tell.
Anyone else have such an experience?

I had something similar happen with my '01 325Cic, but it was due to a mouse
eating the wires under the back seat!
I know the switch is hype sensitive to things like the trunk being open or
the boot cavity not being fully extended. Maybe when you jumped in and out
it was 'just enough'
