Hi, I am looking to buy the latest shape M5 in the next couple of months and just had a few questions:- 1. Did they make any "facelifts" during the model? eg. I used to own an M3 and they changed the light clusters to LED between the 53 and 04 versions. (that's end of 2003 and start of 2004 in the UK) 2. What's the absolute min and max mileage done on a full tank of fuel with "normal" driving? I don't expect the car to be the best for these figures, if I wanted economy I'd buy a diesel, just interested. I'm going to be driving it 130 miles a week to work and then a few more at the weekend. 3. If the car has Satnav does that mean it also has bluetooth? 4. Is the stereo MP3 compatible? 5. Are there any particular options I should be looking for? I test drove one that had some seat upgrade where the sides of the seats moved when you cornered and I didn't like it, however it also had heads-up display and I liked that. The sat nav is usually the professional version and the DVD slides in a slot in the lower dash. There is a CD slot in the upper dash as well as or instead of the 6 pack unit depends on the options ordered. I believe the bluetooth is standard but the phone holder is an extra. Go to the BMW web site for more info on options - they are all listed there. BTW pick your phone carefully as it appears that only the NOKIA range is 100% compatible. Which is why I was looking for M5 owners to comment and not just people guessing!!! My M3 said in the book it would do 27mpg, it averaged 24 which was quite good. I quoted the EPA figures as the newer ones seem to be pretty realistic. For the M3, the current V8 spec is US 20 mpg (24 Imp.) highway and the Z4M using the older 3.2l I6 is US 22 or 26.4 Imp. highway. So perhaps armed with this info, you might get a sense - absent any posts from V10 M5 owners. Dizzy - what is NORMAL? My normal here in the South of England is totally different to Central London, New York, Los Angeles or Edinburgh. What's your point? There's no freaking way *anyone* is getting that kind of milage out of an M5. Maybe if you were to rent an oval racetrack and cruise around it at 50MPH... |
