He normally drives a Ford GT [40?], quicker, faster and less than 10mpg...

He's probably still cross because he wrenched his neck last time he drove a
diesel [truck into a wall - on purpose].

The headline gives no real idea of the article - you need to read it all.
And remember Clarkson's style - tongue in cheek. He loved the car.

How could anyone tell?  2 stars?  I can see the "complaint" about the
ample torque being a joke, but the comment about not being able to
read the nav screen?

That's a high score for him. ;-)

Probably couldn't see it through the cigarette smoke...

He does that to rile up people that doesn't understand the british
humour where sarcasm and irony plays a big part. ;-) Also, you got to
remember, the brits won the war.

You're quite right... you don't have to be Catholic... very appropriate
issue for this season...

Oh, I've had this signature for about 6 months already. Nothing seasonal
about it, but since you insist I will change it.

If you really think about it, and mind you I am an American, and you
compare the Brittish economy to the German economy, you wonder who
really won the war. With Germany being almost totally flattened as
compared to the UK, they had to completely rebuild. And I remember
visiting customers in the UK in their factories which were all
pre-war, and then visiting my German customers, there was a huge
difference.
In the field of quality and technology, there is nothing better then
German engineering, IMHO.
OK, I better put on the asbestos underwear now :-)

Same goes for Japan.

Often it is best to start with a fresh slate and learn from the mistakes
from before... ;)

I have a 1985 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.0, with only 77000 km on the
odometer. It's an absolutely fantastic car for DIY work. Everything is
neat and organized. Not to mention well thought out. And it is an
excellent drive as well. I've tried cars from this millennium that isn't
that good.

> OK, I better put on the asbestos underwear now :-)

No need for that, I totally agree. :D I've had a '90 BMW E30 in my
garage, and I am currently owning an Audi and the MB mentioned above.
The Audi is a great car too, but the dealership here in Norway have made
me swear that if I never have another Audi in my garage it will be too
early.
