hello,
I've been looking for a 2006 or newer z4 m coupe to buy.
I'd like to know what (if any) things I should look out for. I've
noticed a few on sale on ebay with low mileage (less than 20k, some
less than 10k!).
I've had an e39 which was great (when it worked). I learned the hard
way that BMW's are not the best cars in the world. I sold it with
about 77k miles on it. During that time it went through 3 alternators
with the pulleys, 2 cooling systems (this is the weakest link on these
cars) and soon going for it's third radiator with only 80k miles (I
sold it to a friend who likes german cars). Thank God for extended
warranty! Also 2 sets of bushings for suspension (front and rear
replaced twice). The fact these parts wore out so fast (or so often)
just amazed me. Lexus (or other japanese cars like acura) are also
luxury cars but they are also RELIABLE. Apparently this concept has
skipped the minds of german car companies.
However, the ride quality in the BMW is great. No other cars come
close to it. But look at the price one has to pay for this ride
quality!
What are the gotchas in the z4 m coupes? Bad radiators? Horrible
electronic systems (ala mercedes benz)?
All the z4 m coupes I've seen are still under warranty. This is the
reason I'm even looking at german cars.
With what I know I'd never buy a german car without warranty (or
extended warranty).
Thanks,
David
