I saw a metal or aluminum shift boot ring on an E46 in Europe and would love to
find one for my 2001 330i. This is like a frame around the leather boot. I
wonder if anyone knows where I can get a good one.
The closest thing I could find is on this page:

http://www.ppsonline.net/shiftRingIsotta.htm#e36

But this one is for an E36. The one I saw in Europe was on a 330i and looked
like it came from the factory although I can't say for sure. I would appreciate
any info. Thanks.

Go to a dealer and ask someone at the parts counter to look at
the diagram and order the part (assuming it's a BMW part).  I
have the German-style center storage bin in place of the useless
cup holders in both our E46's, and ordered them from the local
dealer in the USA.

I didn't know there was a differen't part. I never use the cup holders except
to hold a phone. What does the German part look like? Does it have better
storge?

In my car it's a center armrest that lifts up. The storage space there
is good enough for a pack of Marlboros and a lighter, not much more.
