Hello,

The trunk lid on my E39 520 sedan i slocked. When I push the opening button
I hear a kind of click sound, but the lid wont open. Is there any way to
open the trunk lid in case of failure of the lid lock mechanism.

Thanks

Morten

Try the keys.

Yea, Mr Jazzman, keys. Well I've tried the most known tricks, also the keys,
but nothing worked out. As I don't have any axcess to the trunk (no ski-sack
or removing the back seat) I had to do it the official hard way. I drilled a
10 mm hole in the trunk lid, got axcess to the mechanism, opened the damned
lid and changed the electric device controlling the opening mechanism. Where
did I bore the hole ? Try to guess.

If you mean the power-unlatch, then you can turn the key. It happened to me.
Then BMW replaced the mechanism free of charge.
Hope this helps
