E46 oil warning light

Oil on dipstick right on the 'max' mark.

The amber oil warning light will come on ~20 seconds after the car is
started and go out ~40 seconds later.

Any ideas why?

oil pump ? bad sensor ? Better have it checked out quick.. runnign
aorund with low oil pressure could cost you big $$$

Many thanks for replying. It was a failed oil level sensor.

?140 (US$250) to supply and replace at my local dealer.
