Rear Diffuser...

 I just bought a lovely '98 318i SE and it has some of the mtec body kit on
it and it looks and drives superbly. However I am not entirely sure what the
diffuser does... any ideas?

Copies what BMW and others stick on racing touring cars.  Works above
~150 mph, if it's not purely cosmetic - in which case it probably
collects dirt and does absolutely nothing useful.
