Hi Guys,

I wonder if anybody can offer any suggestions to my problem.

I have a 320 Diesel 150BHP thats just passed it's two year warranty (3
weeks ago). The car has just over 50K miles on the clock, I have had
the oil 1 and maint 1 serviced at the bmw dealer (it's an import so I
only get 2 years warranty), I have had the second oil service
completed at a local non bmw dealer. Over the last few months I have
noticed that around the 2k rpm mark (mainly noticable under heavy
acceleration) the engine would stutter the analogue mpg dial would
them move to the right and then move back again after the stutter.

Last week I brought the car to my local dealer (not bmw) and he
replaced the fuel pump, this has made the problem much more evident.
Additional power seems to be provided when changing gears (unable to
make clean gear changes) and under moderate acceleration. When coming
to a stop the mpg dial would then move to the right (takes about 5
secs) and then move rapidly back to the idle position.

I have also noticed a whirring noise when I'm accelerating (sounds
like the turbo but could just be me).

I feel I am going to have to take the car to my local BMW dealership
for them to fix and I would appreicate any advice anybody has on this
group.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Cheers.

Rory
